1. What is a ZNC?
A ZNC is an IRC bouncer. It bounces your connection through a proxy to connect to an IRC network. It also keeps you online for the duration of the hosts uptime including when you switch your computer off. 2. How much is a ZNC?
We sell ZNCs at the price of 75p each per month however if you buy our 3-in-1 package you are entitled to a free ZNC.
3. Why should I use ZNC over other IRC bouncers like psybnc?
ZNC offers a variety of extra features that other IRC bouncers don't with the most popular being playback buffer which displays the last piece of chat said in each channel when you rejoin, and plays back any private messages you received whilst logged off.
4. How many servers can my ZNC connect to?
A ZNC can connect to only one server at a time unless multiple user accounts are set up. You can however add a list of servers to the znc to connect to but it will only be connected to one of them at a time.
1. What is web hosting?
Web hosting allows you to have your own website broadcasted on the internet. Our basic web hosting accounts come with cPanel, 10 GB disk space and unlimited traffic. Extra disk space can be purchased.
2. How much is web hosting?
We like to keep things simple for you so our price is simple, £1.50 per month for 10GB disk space then an extra £1.50 a month per extra 2GB disk space.
3. What are the specifications of a web hosting account?
The main specifications of a web hosting account are 10GB disk space although more can be purchased, unlimited traffic, cPanel and much more which can be seen on our services page at www.hostchaos.com/web if you require special specifications then contact a member of our team.
4. Would 10GB hosting serve my needs?
This would depend on exactly what your needs are, we find 10GB is suitable for most of our customers and an easy upgrade in disk quota can be performed for you without affecting your website should you require it later on.
5. Does web hosting come with cPanel?
Yes we provide cPanel with your web hosting account and will always upgrade to the latest version of cPanel when it is stable to keep you up to date and secure.
1. What is an IRCd?
An IRCd is a hosting service that allows you to run chat room software which is also known as an IRC daemon. There are many IRC daemons out there. The most popular are UnrealIRCd3.2 and InspIRCd1.2
2. How much is an IRCd?
An IRCd is £5 a month or you can purchase it as part of our 3-in-1 package which is £6.50 a month and consists of web hosting, an IRCd and a free ZNC.
3. What are the specifications of an IRCd?
An IRCd is priced at £5 a month and comes with; 20GB HDD, unlimited traffic, 100Mbps bandwidth, 64MB RAM (2GB Burstable), unlimited background processes, unlimited users, free install of UnrealIRCd/InspIRCd and anope services.
1. What is a VPS?
A virtual private server provides the features of a dedicated server on a machine that is shared by other hosting customers. Customers therefore get hosting services that are similar to that of dedicated server without sacrificing privacy or performance. It also provides you with root access to the server.
2. How much is a VPS?
We have 3 different VPS packages priced at £7.50, £10.50 and £13 however if you need a custom VPS package go to www.hostchaos.com/vps where you can create your own specifications.
3. What are the specifications of a VPS?
We do the following three different VPS packages however at www.hostchaos.com/vps you can create your own custom VPS;
- 1x - 40GB HDD, 100MB RAM (2GB burstable), unlimited traffic, 1Gbps bandwidth, 1 IP. - £7.50
- 1.5x - 60GB HDD, 150MB RAM (2GB burstable), unlimited traffic, 1Gbps bandwidth, 2 IPs. £10.50
- 2x - 80GB HDD, 200MB RAM (2GB burstable), unlimited traffic, 1Gbps bandwidth, 3 IPs. £13
4. What operating systems can I have on my VPS?
You have a choice of one of the following operating systems installed on your VPS; ubuntu 9.04, debian 5, centos 5.4 and OpenSuSE 11.1.
1. What are domains?
Domain Names are user-friendly web address's. Without them, you would have to memorise IP address's for every site you visit. They make locating your website easier and more secure for you and your visitors. The end of a domain can consist of .com .co.uk .net .org and others.
2. How much is a domain?
We currently sell .co.uk domains at £10 for two years (£5 a year but has to be purchased for 2 years), .com, .net and .org are priced at £8 a year.
1. How secure are my personal details?
Your personal details are extremely secure and information you send and receive over our website is all encrypted. Access to personal details are EXTREMELY limited in order to maintain your privacy. We will not sell on your personal details to third party companies but we will provide them if requested to do so by law enforcement.
2. Who can see my personal details?
Access to your personal details are very limited and only a very few selected staff are able to see them.
3. How do I update my personal details?
You can update your personal details and access all your account items by logging into www.hostchaos.com/whmcs/clientarea.php for further assistant constant a member of staff.
4. What hosting services do you recommend for me?
This depends on what you want to do. If you tell us your plans we will explain what you require and how you can get it. If you require something we don't have or would like a specially catered package ask us and we will do our best to accomadate your needs but do appreciate we can't always provide what you require.
5. Can I nominate somebody else to obtain information from HostChaos on behalf of me?
Yes. To do this log into your client area, go to my details and click add new contact. When your contact is requesting information proof of who they are may be requested from HostChaos staff. Your contact can obtain details about your services/packages and request support but they can NOT make any changes to your account.
6. How do I fill in a cancellation request?
To fill in a cancellation request log into your client area at www.hostchaos.com/whmcs/clientarea.php and do the following: - Click the 'My products and services' tab across the top.
- Click the 'View details' button next to the item you wish to cancel.
- Click the 'Request cancellation' button and fill out the reason for your cancellation.
